January 24

Last night was a little rough for baby Lily. She was up quite a lot crying and seeming to be in pain from gas bubbles. She passed a lot of gas and was held a lot to help keep her upright and pain free.
We had a doctor’s appointment at ten this morning. We were a little late as it takes longer to get a baby ready than Eric and I anticipated and we were off to a late start because of a later-than-planned feeding. It was ok that we were a bit late, however we learned that we weren’t officially prepared. We were instructed to strip her down to her blanket. We had no blanket. Then she pooped and we took care of that. Then she pooped again and we were out of diapers. She was also hungry and rooting around for the whole appointment such that the doctor invited us to stay and feed her. The good news is that she has gained back 2 ounces. She unfortunately has acid reflux, which explains what we thought was gas during the night.  We have new instructions to help her through this little problem.
It was NAP TIME when we got home! Nap time for Mommy and Lily! We put her in her vibrating chair as it is inclined to help her with her reflux. She loved the chair, but is so tiny that we had to roll up a blanket under her bottom to get her to the right height.

Lily’s other first today was bath time at home! Eric and I bathed her in her sink tub in the kitchen. She was not impressed. She squawked the whole time. I held her while Eric did the bathing. It was a very quick bath. When she was cleaned up, we wrapped her in a precious hooded towel. She promptly pooped and mucked it up. Ew.
Nanny had mental and physical exercise time after her bath. Tara read a book with her and then stretched her tiny arms and legs. Then, clearly, it was nap time again.
This was a big day for Little Lily. Tonight we will try the tips that the doctor recommended.  Hopefully, tonight will be more restful.
